I agree that this is the crux of it. Ideally? We'll stay wherever we move until we're ready to buy something.

The reality, however, is we're picking a place out of necessity thanks to the flood so we need to get the best place that will accept us before May 1. And do we pass on something like this, hoping to find a better, comparably priced, convenient to work, family, and daycare, single family home for rent? Or do we concede that an A- is pretty good and just take it?
Of note: there is a small den downstairs as well, that could also serve as a bedroom, and then this weirdo room could be... a playroom? an office? attic storage? a place where I invent a new drinking game played inside a prism? i don't know. but if we have a second child, this room would have to be in service as a bedroom for someone.
