so, we had something kind of eerie happen yesterday when we got home. here's the thing about the Toy Kitten and the Mail

so here's what happened.

we got home last night, parked the car in the carport as always, and came into the house through the side door...as we always do.
i walked through the living room, and into the foyer where our front door is.

our front door has a mail slot, so the mail is laying on the ground on the inside of the front door when we get home.

which it was yesterday....excpet:

a few inches in front of the mail, positioned as if it were looking at the letters, was a white stuffed kitten.

the kitten is a toy of abby's, though one that she doesn't play with often. neither heather nor i saw her with it for quite a while,
and heather thought she had put it up on the high shelf in abby's room along with the other stuffed animals some time ago.

i'm 99% sure that the kitten wasn't there in the foyer when i left in the morning - the last thing i do before going out the side door
to the carport in the morning is to go into the foyer and make sure the front door is locked - so i'm sure that i would have noticed the cat.

when i saw the kitten there yesterday evening, with how it was positioned etc, i froze for a second. i stopped abby from going into the foyer (we asked her later and she said that she wasn't playing with the kitten yesterday) and asked heather to go look. she got equally creeped out for a few minutes.

we have a theory that if we have some sort of haunting (i'm down to about 52% sure that we don't) that it's the ghost of a child, since
some of the other incidents have indicated as such.

the positioning of the kitten definitely goes along with that. it's the kind of weird/funny thing a little kid would do, and then leave there.

now, in all likelihood, what really happened is that at some point heather got the kitten down from the shelf, and gave it to abby, who was playing with it yesterday morning, and in the course of getting ready to go, dropped it in the foyer - where it just happened to fall so that it would be really close to the mail when it came through the mail slot.

i'm sure that's what actually happened.
