In response to "Canadian Macleans magazine article about the new Cantor Futures Film Exchange.... -- (link)" by Walt_Disney

the idea that the studios could over/under inflate *projected* box office gross enough to influence the market is ridiculous

and even if they could, more than they play games with the sunday estimates now, the market will catch on quickly and just wait for the monday actuals to come out, to the extent that it would at all make a difference

other than potential insider trading on relevant information before it becomes public, they can't manipulate the market with fake box office receipts
