I did a fakie intereview with Kalki Helaku, main character of Later, Skater: On Tour which is coming out on 4/20. Ha!

Pixie: I'm here with skateboarding legend, Kalki Helaku.

Kalki: [laughing] I'm no legend.

Pixie: Well you are The Blue Ghost, isn't that right?

Kalki: Yes. It's a nickname that kind of started sort of to rival Shawn White's "Flying Red Tomato" and a play on my skin tone and condition.

Pixie: You are an albino.

Kalki: Yeah. So, ghost, casper, pale boy, freak. Man, I've heard it all.

Pixie: Well, tell us about "Later, Skater: On Tour." I've heard we finally get to read about you in action!

Kalki: There was plenty of action in the first one, man.

Pixie: [laughing] Are you talking about the escape from that Bible thumping correctional institution? Or are we talking about some other kind of thumping?

Kalki: [blushes, laughing] Oh man!

Pixie: For those of you who just don't know, "Later, Skater" is the original. It's about Kalki here getting sent to New Horizons For Daily Living. A sort of, well, you explain it.

Kalki: It's one of those centers where religious, like, pastors and psychologists and therapists try and convince people that are gay to believe that can become straight.

Pixie: It's terrible. Sad.

Kalki: Very sad. But you know, I meet my boyfriend, Mishka there, so, I mean, I got something out of it, at least.

Pixie: He's returning for the sequel right? He's in "Later, Skater: On Tour?"

Kalki: Yeah. And there are lots of people back. Uh, Jeremy, uh, Eddie. My mom. Who else?

Pixie: Jackie?

Kalki: [laughing, hides face] Yes, Jackie's back too.

Pixie: So, with the focus now purely on your skateboarding, you get the opportunity to go on a pro-tour. What happens?

Kalki: Well, you gotta get a copy and read it for yourself when it comes out. [laughs] But, I'll tell you that I do go on the tour. I mean, there wouldn't be much of a story if that didn't happen, right?

Pixie: Right.

Kalki: And this kind of becomes an issue for Skittles and me.

Pixie: Skittles is Mishka for those of you who don't know.

Kalki: Right. They really ought to get "Later, Skater."

Pixie: It's actually a free download this month.

Kalki: [makes a shocked face] Really? Free? Wow!

Pixie: Well, we're promoting the new shit, you know?

Kalki: [laughs] Right, of course. You're like Eddie, always promoting. Ha! Ha! But, yeah, anyway, on the tour, I got to fight my way up the leader board. You know, prove myself to these other boys who will do just about anything to see you fall flat on your face.

Pixie: That's where David Orchard comes in.

Kalki: Ooooh, yes. David Orchard. [raises fist] My nemesis!

Pixie: Tell me a little about him.

Kalki: He's this red-headed British guy, right, and he's top dog. I mean, it's practically his tour. He snaps his fingers, shit gets done, you know? And, of course, I butt heads with him.

Pixie: And maybe something else?

Kalki: [laughs, blushes, waves hands frantically] Well don't give it away, Pixie! Ha! Ha!

Pixie: I won't give it away. But besides that, there is a good story with Skittles back home too, right?

Kalki: Oh, absolutely! He's adorable and everyone's favorite.

Pixie: We love Skittles.

Kalki: We do.

Pixie: Alright, well thanks for your time, Blue Ghost.

Kalki: No problem. Later, skater.

Pixie: I'm no skater, but thanks. [laughs] "Later, Skater: On Tour" will be available on lulu.com on April 20th, 2010 in both download and physical formats. Downloads are going to be five dollars, and to buy paperback versions of the book, they'll be thirteen plus shipping. They got one shipping option that's pretty cheap. And, of course, google "Lulu coupon" to find a coupon code to save some money.
