To get to the talk function of slackertalk, it's 3/4 of the page gone!
Responses:
my problem is it's going to force people to purposely hide them, thereby making the box (which i thought was great) pointless.

It detects if there's been a change and then auto-expands. Normally there won't be four at a time.

I don't think the book club really is worth it, only Meg, Kim and I have actually said anything about the books. (nm)

I'm just finishing up the Ferguson book and I'll post something as soon as I'm done. -- nm

I am reading them - slowly - but where do I comment on them?

I'm not sure if ty ever approved my joining the group. I wanted to talk about TGWTDT book. -- nm

I enjoy reading the book. Just a little sidebox with the book and a link to Amazon and goodreads would be fine -- nm

Could we maybe just not blurb them? That's a lot of words for an announcement -- nm

I've got about 1/2 a screen worth of whitespace on ST on the right side of my widescreen monitor. Use that :) -- nm

Yeah, this is the prob. A small one line blurb and link should do fine.

It's not on every page if you click on "Hide" once you've read it. Then, if bery updates it, it opens up, then you click on "Hide" again.

I feel like it's a Rube Goldberg Machine for announcements. Creating a complex fix for something that didn't need it. (nm)

It's complex? Really? It's one *click*. Plus, if you don't want it to ever pop open again, you can change it in your "Change Info" settings. -- nm

Infintely more complex than doing aboslutely nothing, yes. Things are relative.

I'll just say this; I hid it and thus won't see any reminders of the good stuff pimped.

If the news changes, it opens up. Then you can hide it again if you choose. I rather like the implementation. -- nm
