Update: With a simply average closer, we'd be 8 - 0 right now.

This team isn't supposed to see 70 wins, least of all 6 - 2 thru eight games.

Oh, I'm not counting any pennants yet. I'll gladly play the over at 70.5 wins, but I don't ignore baseball always returns to normal.

All you need is Vernon Wells to keep playing Barry Bonds the rest of the way too. -- nm

Houston is the only think keeping the Mets from having the worst record in the major leagues.

I don't how you guys went from such great teams in the late '90s to a complete joke now.

They seemed to do well for the first few years of their ownership.

In 1996, Angelos vetoed his GM's recommendation to trade Bobby Bo and other vets for a wild-card run.

Four of your seven losses came against the DRays, Four of our 6 losses came from the Nats and Fish.

if Big Papi never struck out, Wakefield only threw the good knuckleballs, and Varitek continued to hit 2 HRs a game, we'd be fucking awesome. -- nm

I agree, I don't blame the players one bit. Management has done as poor a job as I've seen in many years.

I'll disagree on one thing: Minaya would be a great scout. He has *zero* ability to manage a roster, do PR, and all the stuff that makes a good GM.

You just need the pitchers to keep throwing 2/3 of a no-hitter each game.

Of course the pitching can't hold like that all season, but Romano's expected to be this type of pitcher on every start. More good outtings than bad. -- nm

Statistically, an average closer is 80% in saves attempts. Frasor's 50%. 2 for 4. Fine, I'll say 7-1. -- nm
