It's probably cheaper and easier that way. No way I'd buy a house that was a former grow op.

I've seen some well made grow ops that are built to last. They use generators for the electricity and the only humidity is in the grow rooms. The grow rooms are sealed tightly and the temp. and humidity are closely monitored. Proper ventilation is needed so you don't get mold. The plants will get mold long before the drywall.
If done properly the house will be fine and no one will be the wiser. If you skip steps or try to do it cheap you'll have issues and apparently fire is a major one.
