to avoid reply-to-all madness, you usually can put the distribution list in bcc - putting a dummy name or your own address in the "to"

this prevents a r-t-a.
the only people it might bug are filter users, but it's worth it for huge lists.
here's a page with ms outlook's tip about it: second bullet in last section.
