I hadn't heard of Survivors. That goes on the list. Screenwipe too.
(Do you recommend Nathan Barley?)

Gavin & Stacey seems much like Will and Grace in that nobody ever watched it for the lead actors. I'm going to stick with it.

I'm not sure Gervais's special had a "topic." I haven't see Politics, Animals or Fame, so for all I know, it could be cobbled together from all of these. He touched on:
-charity work (cancer and autism)
-obesity
-AIDS
-hitler and anne frank
-fairy tales (humpty dumpty and the boy who cried wolf)
-strange animal facts
