Because the majority of Canadians, if given a direct choice, may support a political party, but wouldn't give a dime to them.

You may like the local candidate only and not the party.
The subsidy is also an unfair advantage to those running for parties and is disadvantageous to independent candidates like Bill Casey and Andre Arthur.
These are just some of the arguments against it.
