I'm sure mara can google up percentage of teen moms coming from broken homes. while it does seem like a large percentage

of the 16 & P moms have no dad or a wimpy dad (or a controlling jerk stepdad), you have to remember that 50% of marriages now end in divorce -- so it might just be how things are now.
I think certainly that an upbringing stressing family values is the most important thing, and that less parent "touch time" is available to children in single-parent homes or in homes where the parent is remarried (competing interests). really though everyone is fucked up. it's not abstinence and a strong father figure that kept me from getting knocked up at 16. it was the fact that I was smart enough to use birth control.
