I doubt a swung tool could bounce high enough and with enough force to damage anything in the femur region, a few toes? that you can live with

when dealing with such rocky ground and believe me, I have a cobble stone street a few inches under the grass, I use a narrow trencher, a clam digger, a cultivator fork (and you must get one with a fiberglass handle, I've broken 3 wooden ones in as many years) and I'm seriously thinking about a contractor's wrecking bar to pry the damn granite footballs up.
