Responses:
Superstore (Loblaws out here) has charged a nickle a bag ever since I can remember. It's why I'm actually in favour of the Toronto mayor's tax idea.

some cashiers haven't quite gotten the message yet though. I've had a few just sort of stand there when presented with the reusable bags as if to say

We bought those plastic boxes from Superstore a couple years ago, and now take them to safeway and costco with us.

I have 2 of those, they're great. Useful for camping and other outdoor stuff, too. I need to get the straps for mine. -- nm

My market was giving a nickel credit per bag, but I think now they're just giving bonus loyalty points. -- nm

Does this count Thrifty Foods? I might have to get some of their canvas bags.

Ah, it doesn't say. It would kinda suck if they did, though, because I reuse the plastic bags as garbage bags. If they get rid of them, I'll have to

i'm okay with that. i'd rather buy garbage bags than have 460 Million (That's Toronto ALONE) grocery bags end up in land fill every year. -- nm

That's only a bag per person every three days. Honestly, I'm kinda surprised it's that low. -- nm

Do you really have a 100% reuse rate or a 20% rate and a cupboard full of plastic bags?

I have a 100% reuse of grocery bags. Stupid custom-made clothing shopping bags are annoying to reuse, though. -- nm
