Back from Thanksgiving dinner with my parents. It was excellent, and only one small moment of drama.

My step-dad complimented the dish I bought, Escalloped Corn (from my maternal great-grandmother's recipe). He really enjoyed it ... until my mom piped up by saying "Well, Al, that is a nice compliment, especially since you've never liked it before."

To which, my step-dad replied, "It's just different."

"You mean 'better,' don't you?" Mom said.

And that's when Al realized what he'd gotten himself into. He just said "I think I'll shut up now," and didn't say another word for the rest of dinner.
