Quebec voters have never voted in large numbers for a non-Quebec leader of a national party. Do you think that is a coincedence?

And your arts cuts that you claim allowed Quebec voters to turn en mass from the Tories (or any other party for that matter)...That wasn't seen as "Look! Ottawa's trying to screw us over."

I mean, it's not like Harper didn't increase transfers to Quebec in the billions, only to see Charest bring in the largest tax cut in Quebec history. Oh wait, that happened.

It's also not like the Quebecois weren't acknowledged as a nation onto themselves.

If symbolism is important, than shouldn't the symbolism of a strong conservative Prime Minister from Calgary making repeated and concentrated efforts to reach out to the people of Quebec mean something?

Because otherwise, it's just an excuse. And that's what it looks like.
