I hear and see this advertised a lot lately.
I was sedated for wisdom teeth extraction. Local anesthetic for two root canals, one of which I was so comfortable I just drifted off to sleep without sedation.
I can't image being so afraid that I'd need sedated for a cleaning or a filling.

I am usually nervous about the dentist, mostly because my gums are extremely sensitive. Sharp pains all the time when they prod around.

it's tempting, especially when i start getting root canals, but i'm certain my insurance wouldn't cover it -- nm

I had local for all of my extractions and fillings. If I had to do it over I would absolutely do general for the wisdom teeth. It was horrible. -- nm

I don't need it, but for a small minority of people that just can't handle the dentist, I guess it makes sense. -- nm
