Are your expectations of them appropriate? When you find the need to yell, is it because

they are lagging purposefully or not taking care to follow your directions? Or are they doing their best at interpreting what you want from limited instructions?

Do you leaven the criticism with praise for a job well done? Do you seek out positive behaviors (catch them doing good) and praise them?

Yelling isn't always out of line. But if every interaction ends with raised voices...
