It just occurred yesterday.

Brother had a flight at 9:40am out of Baltimore to Chicago. Flight was delayed a couple of times before they canceled it and sent all the people on the plane back to the counter to get re-booked. Waits in line, get's told he's re-booked on a 2:25pm out of DCA, is put in a cab with two other people (strangers) and sent for the hour drive to DCA.
When he arrives at DCA, he finds out that the Baltimore flight actually took off after all (they didn't cancel it? The uncanceled it? Who knows).
Then, his DCA to Chicago flight gets delayed around two hours due to weather in Chicago, but they board them on the plane anyway and have them sit out there on the tarmac for 90 minutes waiting to take off.
He got home about seven hours late, unpleased.
