I was kinda always planning on bringing him somewhere, but he was so generally well behaved that Will thought maybe we should see what we could do at home, without bringing him anywhere. I think his tune has now changed. :)
That dog has serious abandonment issues, and he's not really picking up on the general commands (sit, stay, etc), although he is picking up some stuff. Last night he stayed on his dog bed all night and didn't jump up on our bed once, after a few days of us working with him. So, I dunno.

You have to do it with the dog. And you have to keep it up. I'm not talking out of my ass, I've competed in obedience trials with dogs. -- nm

i think it's good for both dogs and their owners. you learn what works, new techniques, and it will help establish boundaries. good luck! -- nm

Obedience training is rough. The classes are fine, but you have to continually be at the dog with the training. Patience is *key*. -- nm

This is my friend's puppy, who starts obedience school today! He was about 12lb when they got him a couple of months ago, and is 45lb at 4 months :) -- (link)

We did the training at PetSmart. It worked pretty well.
