I'm still trying to figure out the endgame. Clearly, the Tories would have known that the opposition wouldn't accept the cut, so what's the play? Trying to spin it that they wouldn't accept it with the cuts, but now that they "are getting theirs" they'll accept it?

Also, does the opposition try to bully Harper out anyhow, hope he retires and take their chances with the next Tory leader? (Honestly, I dread the next leadership cycle.)
