It's just as (if not more) possible that friend would have taken advice, and been able to see the heartbreak coming before it hit her.

Letting someone walk into a practically-guaranteed painful situation without warning is not cool. The excuse that the friend might not have liked or trusted the warning doesn't fly... what does the first girl do now? Admit that she had the same experience but failed to mention it? How's THAT going to affect the friendship? Or else she continues to never mention it, a lie by omission in this context.
