ST IT Helpdesk, activate! I just speedtested two computers

A PC and a Macbook, both sitting here with me. Both working off of the same wireless router, which works off of a cable modem.

PC: Download 15.06 Mb/s, Upload 4.66 Mb/s
Mac: Download 0.11 MB/s, Upload 0.11 MB/s

This happens intermittently, where one or more computer in the house is slow or can't connect. Rarely it happens on all computer. But usually it happens on one or both MacBooks (it rarely happens on the PC).

Currently running on a Netgear router. Hooked up an Airport Express last night, it was working fine, then power died overnight and it was wonky this morning so went back to the Netgear for now.

Anyway: WHAT THE HELL? Any idea? Could this possible be related to the cable modem and or the cable signal? (The TV signal is glitchy at times from the same outlet)

What kind of networking are you using on the Mac? 802.11b, g, or n? (That wireless speed on the PC seems rather fast.) -- nm - Beryllium Apr 29, 12:56 7
