"OH!!! "la salle de bain" is a washroom. I think using that term for toilets is a Quebec thing (like "bathroom")."

But in Europe they sometimes have separate room for the bath/shower and the toilet, so it makes sense to have different word. Here, it's very very rare, so we probably ended up using the same word for both.
We also use Toilettes, both words are interchangeable (is that a word?)
