I'm not reading all that; but, fwiw, I was a vegetarian for 15+ years and never expected anything special to be done for me.

I'd sometimes offer to bring something main-dishy; and, if that didn't happen, I'd usually just have side dishes. there were only a few times that it really sucked (bacon in beans/chicken stock in rice - things like that). otherwise, it was fine. it was my choice to have parameters.

for the kid thing, I'd never knowingly go against something not-harmful that parents wanted for their child.
