Having no protection whatsoever, whether it's security personnel, or a properly registered weapon in your vehicle or something, would be irresponsible too.

Now, some guys like Clinton Portis have shunned the whole "bling" lifestyle for years and that seems like a smart thing to do. You'll never see Portis wearing anything but sweats and hoodies, no fancy diamonds or stuff like that. Even so, he's still a target for who he is.

ESPN ran an article recently on issues like this with NFL players
