Just went down to see "Marine Week" in the Charlestown Navy Yard...

they're in the next area over from our office but have a big display, mortars, M-16s with all the attachments, various MGs, the grenade launcher is HUGE...a Humvee and two Amph. Assault Vehicles (also Ginormous!)There was an Osprey circling at one point but I'm not sure where it went.

Some of the guys are combat vets and frighteningly young. I mean...babies. The 1st Lt couldn't have been on the old side of 25. It always amazes me that all that responsibility falls on men and woman who are so incredibly young. They were all very polite and friendly.

One thing I *just* discovered...Paul Revere landed in Charlestown, at the navy yard and walked into Boston to pick up a horse and start his ride. There's a placard tucked in a corner no one can get to since 9/11 when they shut a particular gate. I mean...no one will ever see it unless they open the gate to foot traffic again. I stumbled across it because I thought perhaps there was a short cut. It's sort of sad that that bit of history might be lost if someone doesn't pay attention...it reminds me of the very end of "Gangs of New York". It'll just disappear over time...
