it feels like Dante's Inferno. with every island, they descend into the next ring of hell

i think this series is telling a very different story than Band of Brothers. that was, basically, the story of how a group of young men saved the world for democracy

The Pacific is not so much the historical narrative of the Pacific campaign as an exploration of what war does to a man's soul, and what is lost when they are sent into it
