Our apartment complex is now asking us to get renter's insurance with them listed on the policy. Has anyone here ever had this happen? -- nm

for my clients who are land lords, we actually have a special lease addendum for them to add that requires the tenant to carry coverage

Only reason I can think of, that would be legit, is that they might be notified of policy cancellation -- nm

Run it by your lawyer. Having the insurance is a good idea, but it's meant to protect your property not the dwelling. -- nm

Never. I mean, having it is great and I endorse it, but I don't know why it would be mandated or have them listed on it. -- nm

I'm not sure why you would list them.... you're not covering their property. -- nm
