*Transiberian is actually pretty effing awesome, especially if you're an admirer of the Hitchcock style. This movie was highly regarded at Sundance this year and I think we're going to see great things from the director. I gave it a B+ for the acting and the cinematography, but there were a couple of obvious plot holes. Regardless, it's a damn good suspense film.
**Darkon is a documentary about a large bunch of LARPers in the Baltimore area. It won the audience choice award at the South by SW filmfestival in Austin, TX. The documentary itself is extremely well done, hence the A-. But, those people really need to get a fucking life, it's just sad, which is why I also gave it a D-.
I really didn't think I'd like Wall E, but I did. So I figure if I liked it a lot when I expected not to, most people will love it.
Finally, I have to say that Mongol is the most beautiful, just gorgeous, lush film I've seen in several years and it's extremely touching. It's also kind of long, plus it has subtitles (it's in the Mongolian language). I recommend it highly (it was Crash's fave of the movies we watched over the weekend) but it's not for people who dislike foreign language films.
