In response to "ST Poll: On average, which do you feel makes a better movie -- original script or adapted from a book? -- nm" by Fuzzy (193 lbs)

In theory, the adapted has the advantage of being based on (probably) already-successful/popular/quality material.


On the other hand, that can often get a project approved because of the built-in audience with less regard to the actual quality of the script.

So I'd have to go with original material that has to stand on its own merits.
