i think smokey took the form of MIB when he went down the hole... maybe it explains the reason how smokey can take any shape of a human being. it may explain how smokey took the form of their real mother so it would cause a rift and MIB would become bad to set him free (although that's really thinking ahead there).
this episode was too weird, like as if the whole point of it was to reveal who adam and eve were on the island and that's it.
