that the light is what "infects" people and turns them bad.
Sayid didn't last long enough to be truly evil, like Smokey.
I can only assume that after centuries of being "infected" that's why Smokey is such a mother fucker, yes?
And now it makes me wonder how many other times we've seen "the light" and didn't really notice it or think about it?
