In response to "What would be an argument for the death penalty other than vengence?" by Guigue

I don't believe it's vengeance. I belive it's justice.

A person in jail is still able to inflict damage unto society either by crimes in prison or influencing those there with them.

Our system is broken, unquestionably; so I don't put a lot of stock in those #'s of costing more and so forth given how broken it is. Comparing a working system and a broken one is not a equitable.

More to the point, I believe there is evil in the world; I believe eliminating that evil as expeditiously as possible minimizes future evil. However, eliminating it within the fairest system possible is a necessity.
