Farming is business, if a specific farmer must have government help to stay in business, then they shouldn't be a farmer.

I am in favor of making loans available to farmers on better/different terms because of the nature of their business. Loans made before the growing season and payable upon harvest. And crop insurance should be available as well.

But outright subsidies reward those who don't need it either because they are profitable anyway or because they are inefficient and should be in business.
