NCIS spoils question

Why are the female cast members treated so poorly?
Gibbs' wife and daughter dead
Kate's dead.
Director Shephard is dead.
The Gitmo agent died.
The LA pilot agent is dead.
Ziva has been abused left and right.
Abby is pretty much the only female character that hasn't been roughed up. Even the LA episode barely put her in danger.
