no. They all died whenever they died. Lapidus, Miles, et. al, obviously make it off the island, Hugo is still alive as the guardian, Ben as #2, etc., but they all die at some point and are reborn into the "waiting room" to relive their lives, but having made different choices throughout.
your second thought is also plausible, but I find that possibility less than fulfilling.
