they were deliberately complex the first 2 seasons when they'd take story and run with it for a few episodes and then switch to something else for a few episodes and then come back to the original plot.

They almost lost me.

Then the hiatuses nearly killed it for me as well. After a few of those I simply stopped trying to keep up with the mythology.

I stuck with it and enjoyed the series enough. I give them credit for at least trying something different and complex. TV is a wasteland of stupid. This was challenging and mostly interesting.
