Want to bet? The show was building to a payoff. The payoff was underwhelming.

I've compared the show to a novel in the past.
That's what it was. And the ending, while it works, is so lackluster as to be hardly worth it.
Responses:
An ending cannot possibly ruin a series. You had fun for years, don't be bitter.

I was promised a payoff for those 6 years. The payoff didn't come close to satisfying. It was a miniseries ending. -- nm

Parts of the show were underwhelming. It shouldn't be a shock that the "payoff" was also. -- nm
