Computer networking problem.

I'm getting the following error when one of our computers (a Mac) starts up and tries to connect to the network:
xx.x.x.xx in use by xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx DHCP Server xx.x.x.x
What I get from that is that it is trying to get an IP address that is already in use by another computer but how do I fix that?
Responses:

the long term cure is to switch all units to IPv6 -- nm

usually by rebooting. On a PC you can do a "release" and "renew" of your address. Not sure how to do it on the Mac -- nm

Rebooting didn't help. Trying to figure it out in the Networking settings. -- nm
