In response to "It'll be interesting to see how my #'s go in the next month given that in nowheresville, Indiana the hotel gym is about all I found. -- nm" by Will Hunting

hotel gyms can be very satisfactory, esp in very small towns tied to big industry like the town to which you're going.

here are travel tips:

do not bring shampoo toothpaste etc. buy it when you get there. 1) it won't explode on your clothes. 2) when you go home one weekends, you won't need to carry it with you. 2) the hotel guest laundry (NOT LAUNDRY SERVICE) is your friend. use it rather than trucking clothes home to wash. 3) if you are a candyass about ironing, find a local drycleaner - DO NOT USE HOTEL SERVICE. many local drycleaners will pick up every friday and deliver mondays for you if they know you're a long term hotel guest. 4) when you go home on weekends, pack your bags and leave them with your concierge. don't take things home. it's insane to pack just to unpack. 5) if you need to get mail at your hotel, be SUPER nice about it. always ask if you have mail; don't assume they'll tell you. 6) be super nice always, actually. you'll get priority over one-day travelers anyway because you're long term, but being super nice makes hotel staff much more amenable to weird requests. oh speaking of that, 7) unless you're like anal about neatness, don't make them change your room every day. treat the hotel like your home. I only had housekeeping do my room on Fridays when I was traveling. I told them up front to just leave me alone (this also allowed me to negotiate a FAR better rate). 8) obvs make sure you join the rewards program of whatever hotel you stay at. 9) don't eat chinese food on the road. 10) make sure you read your t&e policy carefully. will you get paid from just a credit card receipt, or do you need an itemized?

the above handy tips allow you to have your weekends 100% free when you are home without changing any behavior during the week and allow you the fastest and easiest possible reimbursement.
