To answer the dog/cat bite question from B2. As I understand it, it's because

cat teeth are like little needles. The bites are deep and tend to close up after the tooth is withdrawn, trapping all sorts of nasty germs inside the wound.

Dog bites tend to be more ragged and open, allowing the wound to bleed more and making it easier to clean.
