This reads as: "We swear it makes sense and this is why Michael didn't make it. Please don't ask us about Walt. We'll cover that later. Also, all of the people from season one are the tied together and this is why they're the only ones in the temple. Please don't ask us why Penny, Desmond and Libby are there."

Even their explanatory answers are inconsistent.

I hope they try explaining the temple nonsense at some point. "There's safe harbor...but no one uses it. This is because...err, give us a minute."
