I think a zen approach is needed for the ending to work. It's probably the most appropriate approach

given how the ending played out.
It's not that the ending as an ending is bad, it's that they took six years to get to something so simple.
I think I'd have been quite happy with that ending if this had been 2 seasons long or a long miniseries.
Or if the 6 years leading to it hadn't been filled with so much stuff that ended up being irrelevant.
