I imagine a lot of stuff got left on the cutting room floor. They expanded the finale by half an hour and still had 20 minutes of stuff they had to cut. When things are that tight I imagine they have to make the hard choice to skip over things that a reasonable person can infer must have happened to get from point A to point B like getting Ben out from under the log.
