Cheers and Red Dwarf both have laughter (audience laughter), and they're excellent shows.

It's mostly the brainless twattering at unfunny shite that I have an issue with, really.
But that said, yes, I prefer it when shows are just sublimely funny, rather than beating me over the head with a "look how funny we are" stick.
