It never fails. I pick a promising middle class engineering student to be the new roommate and then...

...somebody tells me about a deserving but dirt poor kid who really needs a break. Why does this bother me so much. I know I can't help everybody, but it really bothers me so much to have to say no to somebody who's trying hard. I could offer him the converted garage, but then how do I break that to the engineering student (uh you thought it was going to just be you and me, but there's going to be a poor kid living in the garage who's paying a fraction of what you're paying...oh and he's going to need a lot more tutoring and help, so I won't be able to help you as much as I thought)
Just to clarify this is my 2 bedroom place in Silicon Valley, not my rental house in Las Vegas (which is also full and I have to turn down interested guys)
