I don't believe that an NDP voter would have voted against the NDP had he known that Layton had a chance of getting some power and authority in a coalition. Not unless they voted NDP as a protest vote akin to a Republican voting for Hillary in the primaries so as to drag out the battle and tarnish Obama.
