I'm loving the discussion myself. I don't consider those years taken from him. Was he not allowed to leave Japan earlier? Did he have to sign a

contract in Japan? Is there some rule that I'm not aware of that forces Japanese players to play a certain amount of years before they can leave and try and play MLB?

If not, he chose Japanese baseball and it's his own choosing that kept him from having the hits needed in MLB to pass Rose.
