It sounds like Steve's "retina display" was similar nonsense. A lot of people are saying it's really no great leap over the screens on the other new smartphones. It has a better resolution and worse contrast than the latest Droids. The kind of thing no one would have dropped their jaw over if it was demo'd next to another device in a blind test.
