Me: There's a difference between a natural disaster and a man-made one. There's a sense that Haiti was hit more-or-less randomly, while the gulf disaster was the responsibility of a corporation and lax regulation. There were concerts and benefits for Katrina.
Mom: irregardless, our American brothers and sisters are suffering at 'no fault of their own doing'... they desire our compassion and help. :) if I could sing, I'd give a benefit concert ~ lol

Person 1: Amen!!! Hey, [Mom]...we could probably raise more money if we got people to pay us not to sing!!! LOL ;)
Me: I also wish we could get up this much enthusiasm to fix the poverty and homeless problem in our own country. But events like this are able to focus our attention.
Person 2: You just watch, the Presbyterians will be there if they aren't already. AND they will stay longer than anyone else. That's the way it happens and they don't get flashy press. When something like this happens, they already have money in the bank and can go immediately.
